Appalachian Breakfast


1. Fried Apples

Ingredients

  • 4 apples, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Melt butter.
  2. Add apples and cook 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Cook until soft and syrupy.

2. Biscuits & Sausage Gravy

Ingredients

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 2½ cups milk
  • Salt & pepper

Instructions

  1. Brown sausage.
  2. Stir in flour.
  3. Slowly add milk, stirring.
  4. Simmer until thick.
  5. Serve over split biscuits.

3. Grits with Butter

Ingredients

  • 1 cup stone-ground grits
  • 4 cups water
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Bring water and salt to boil.
  2. Slowly whisk in grits.
  3. Simmer 20–30 minutes, stirring often.
  4. Stir in butter before serving.
